an inclusive community exploring mindfulness
Welcome to Pacific Northwest Meditation! We believe that practicing meditation and mindfulness together can help us connect more fully to a multitude of shared human experiences, and help us view ourselves and others in new ways. We welcome and learn from all races, ethnicities, cultures, physical/cognitive abilities, ages, genders and identities. PNWM endeavors to be an anti-racist and accessible community that removes barriers to engagement. Come to still the body and calm the mind.
Saturday Sangha
October 19 & 26
Nelly Kaufer is the founder and lead teacher at Pine Street Sangha. As a long-time lesbian, she understands the dominance of patriarchal influences in the way Buddhism is taught. She has created a more “feministic” approach utilized in her teaching style.
In 2023, she co-authored the book, “Reflective Meditation: cultivating kindness and curiosity in the Buddha's company.” Having witnessed a variety of meditative experiences, she teaches Reflective Meditation, an open, unstructured way of meditating that invites your life into your meditation. Starting gently, and staying near to your experience during meditation, you develop a friendlier, more intimate relationship to your experience within meditation and in your life. Nelly integrates Buddhist psychology into her psychotherapy practice and teaches workshops for mental health professionals
